10. Welcome to the Farm

dining room of Five Oaks Farm Kitchen

The property that our hotel is located on was once the Five Oaks Farm that our owners’ grandparents called home. 100 years ago Dr. John W. Ogle and his wife Blanche purchased the land and turned into a place filled with family values, love, hospitality and a sense of community. They often welcomed weary travelers to stop in and have a meal with them or catch up on a night of rest as they were passing through. Today we strive daily to carry on their legacy. You’ll not only find pieces of their story throughout the hotel but you can also get a taste of life on Tennessee farm by visiting our neighbors. Next door to us is the Five Oaks Farm Kitchen that is filled with family photographs and an amazing menu that was inspired by Granny Blanche’s kitchen and dishes that she served to loved ones. Just up the hill is the Ogle Brothers General Store where you’ll find an in-house potter, all things honey, wonderful gifts, and food items inspired by the Ogle household. Go a little further up the hill and you’ll have the chance to go horseback riding and take in a peaceful ride around the farm that includes some really beautiful views of the Smokies. We hope that you’ll experience the same charm that countless others have found during their time on the farm. Learn more about the history of The Lodge at Five Oaks.
