3 Reasons You Have to Try Five Oaks Farm Kitchen in Sevierville TN
In 1925 the property that our hotel calls home today was the perfect picture of Tennessee living, family values, community and hospitality. Dr. John W. Ogle was a Sevier County doctor that often traveled to the homes of his patients on horseback as well as a loyal servant to the area’s residents. His wife, Blanche Ogle, was a dedicated wife and mother that also loved to share time on the farm with family, friends and members of the community. Regardless of the number of people that were planning to sit around Blanche’s table at supper time, there was still always a seat available for anyone that wanted to join. The Ogle’s not only had a great love for their family, neighbors and the Tennessee Walking Horses that were bred on their farm but also for serving others in their beautiful Smoky Mountain home. Seven generations later, their farm looks quite different, but it’s still in the hands of their family. A family that strives to carry on their legacy of hosting, friendliness, love and service. During your time with us at The Lodge at Five Oaks, we want you to experience the type of hospitality that would make Dr. John and Blanche proud if they were sitting around the dinner table with us on the night of your stay. You’ll receive a delicious and free complimentary breakfast when staying with us, but to get the real 1920’s Five Oaks Farm experience, you’ll want to have at least one meal at the Five Oaks Farm Kitchen. Here are a few reasons why you don’t want to miss the down home experience that they offer every guest!
An Authentic Experience
If you’re looking for a true Southern-style authentic experience this is the place! The Five Oaks Farm Kitchen is certainly one of the most beautiful restaurants in the Smokies! The best part? It’s right next door to our Sevierville hotel so you can just walk right on over as soon as the aroma from the kitchen gets caught in the breeze and triggers your hunger! The farm themed dining space was built in a way that the Ogle family hopes will transport you back in time to their family’s Five Oaks Farm. With a stunning cathedral ceiling and custom light fixtures the architecture itself will steal your attention, at least until your food arrives! Throughout the property, you’ll get a glimpse of life on the farm in the family photos that are displayed. You’ll also find one of Dr. John W. Ogle’s carriages that he used for his practice so many decades ago. Outside, you’ll be treated to a water wheel, tractor, old pickup truck, fire pits, a fountain and even a real beekeeping hive that’s kept at a safe distance. If there’s a wait when you arrive, kick back in one of the rocking chairs and just enjoy your time on the farm!
The Portions and Pickins’
Maybe you’ll decide to start the day off by ordering the “Dr. John’s Morning Ritual” that comes with everything a man on a mission could want on his breakfast plate! Or, maybe you’ll have a sugar craving pop up when you get a glimpse of a “Handmade Farm-Size Cinnamon Roll” or “Blanche’s Thick ‘Ring Baked’ Griddle Cakes”. You could welcome the morning with “Isaac’s Favorite” egg benedict or a classic “Five Oaks Omelet”. If you’re staying with us, let us serve you breakfast then you can shop a bit at the Tanger Outlets across the street or go horseback riding around the farm at the Five Oaks Riding Stables in our backyard. When lunch time rolls around, you can pop into the Five Oaks Farm Kitchen for some “Cornbread Salad” or even a rack of ribs! Supper time kicks off at 2:30p.m on the farm and if you’ve been in the mountains for a morning hike or exploring the many attractions in the area, you might be ready to take on the last meal of the day. Many options await you on the evening menu, you can choose from the list of mouthwatering meats on the “Smoke House” list, a soul food item from the “Farm Table,” Southern favorites that you’ll find tucked away under “Soup Kettle” and much more! When eating on the farm, you won’t find the kitchen short of any types of pickins’ from the south and the portions were made for your eyes, not your belly! Don’t say we didn’t warn you! Good news is, you can save a little cash if someone else in your party wants to order the same items or you can take your leftovers back to your room at our hotel, put them in your in-room fridge and head out for some fun in the Smokies!
The Reviews Say It All!
One quick glance online and you’ll find that The Five Oaks Farm Kitchen isn’t just liked by those that have dined on the farm, but instead they are greatly loved by almost every person that has walked in the front door! From large groups to families and couples, there is one review after another raving about the food, the portions, the building, the staff and much more! One Google review includes that the staff is “top notch” and speaks of the parking lot being full but yet seating was immediate and goes on to say that the food was “expertly cooked”!
From all of the reviews of guests that have walked away feeling that they had a positive experience that was great for families with delicious food, and topped with a wonderful atmosphere, we think it’s safe to say that Dr. John and Blanche Ogle would love that even today, their hospitality is still alive and well on the family farm!
We would love for your next trip to the Smoky Mountains to also include a stay with us, a visit to the Five Oaks Farm Kitchen and an authentic experience with us on the Five Oaks property! Afterall, like the Dr. J. Ogle quote says in the restaurant, “Life is better on the farm!”
